Welcome dear ummm... Difficult... Ice! Fragility, cold, shine, polarity. Hello world, how are you? Hello world, how am I? I, uh. Polarbaeren. Polarbaeren means: Armando Chappuis, Chris Gebhard, Mattia Facchini, Basil Schreyer, electro-acoustic setup, calculated grooves, field recordings, beatswitches, eclectic concepts and multi-layered compositional processes. After their first release in fall 2023 - the interdisciplinary project "Das Karussell" - they are now releasing their debut EP "EIS!". What's new? The live band banter has given way to microscopic computer productions and, as the fifth band member, an AI voice guides the streaming audience through almost 23 minutes of music. Field recordings taken on the Morteratsch glacier in both original and synthesized form serve as the musical framework, creating a clear conceptual framework around the 5 tracks and 3 interludes (cycles). My Instagram shows me every day that the world has a fever. The images of interrelated social problems and natural disasters make my face sweat. Fortunately, we are still a long way away from all this evil. Or are we already in the middle of it? Are we at the beginning or just before the end? Hopeful or paralyzed? Action or reaction? Still or moved? But enough of the confrontation. Let's scroll on: a cruise? Look: dolphins! Composition process. "EIS!" was released on October 4, 2024 via the Zurich label Current Moves.
