In a village in northern Italy, two men live in familiar discord. The priest Don Camillo and the communist mayor Peppone. Both have the happiness of their community at heart. However, their completely different views on what is best for their village lead to a heartfelt enmity. Thankfully, Jesus Christ has a say in the matter.

Don Camillo and Peppone, the main heroes of many of Giovannino Guareschi's stories and novels, made the Italian journalist and cartoonist one of the most widely read Italian authors of his time. The successful films featuring Fernandel and Gino Cervi contributed to the great international popularity of his two characters.

Arne Retzlaff has now brought this comedy classic to the Theaterkahn stage with Tom Quaas, Mario Grünewald and Felix Voigt in a fast-paced and highly amusing production.
