Doppelkonzert Karlijn Langendijk & cocotá

On Friday, representatives of the younger generation will take to the stage with Karlijn Langendijk and her touching compositions, followed by cocotá with their very own version of West African music.

Vocalist Fama M'Boup and guitarist Christian Stoltz combine their eccentric love of Senegalese synth-pop from the 80s, modern jazz influences and their own compositions with extraordinary musicality. They blend these into a unique fusion with recognition value. On stage, cocotá create a soundscape that is an echo of interpersonal encounters. The guitar completes the last movement sung, the voice accompanies the solos and the conversation meanders between absolute lightness in dynamic flights of fancy and flat thoughtfulness. The music of cocotá is a tribute to the past, an echo of traditional West African music, while at the same time exploring new paths in their musical world.

Karlijn Langendijk

Her compositions go beyond simple emotions and instead capture a spectrum of complex feelings that are deeply felt but difficult to articulate. As a guitarist and composer, she is fascinated by different musical genres and cultures, which she fuses into a unique style. Her impressive melodies stimulate the imagination and are reminiscent of a movie soundtrack that exists only in the mind of the listener. In her live performances, Karlijn switches effortlessly between dreamy ballads, rhythmic grooves and interpretations of well-known songs. She won 1st prize at the Francisco Mário International Prize for Modern Guitar - Europe in August 2023.
