DORTMUND URBAN is NEW and stands for young urban art:

Themes such as street art, dance, breaking, skateboarding, parkour, film, urban art, comics, workshops as well as concerts and other activities such as street soccer/panna and 3X3 basketball will take place over three days in June at numerous locations in Dortmund's city center.

ABOUT DORTMUND URBAN:

Urban culture on six stages as well as numerous workshop and performance areas - this is how actors from the local scene are planning a festival for urban culture "DORTMUND URBAN" together with DORTMUND KREATIV. It is set to become a new highlight of the open-air season in Dortmund's city center and attract a young audience.

"From June 19 to 21, 2025, the city will become an inspiring environment for contemporary art and lifestyle culture," says Christian Weyers, Head of DORTMUND KREATIV. "The Youth Brigade Festival at the FZW on June 18 will be a warm-up for the following three days," Weyers continues.

In order to redefine the urban space in the festival center, overseas containers will be placed at suitable locations in the city, which will then serve as a backdrop for urban themes and screens. Small stages and workshop locations will be set up around the resulting places with a quality of stay.

DORTMUND URBAN will offer everything from street art and comics to music and skating to breaking, photography and film for three summer days. The public can enjoy free concerts, DJ sets, demonstrations and artistic positions. Visitors will also have the chance to get creative and active themselves and take part in workshops and various urban sports activities.

The first edition in June 2025 will serve as a pilot project. "DORTMUND URBAN" should be as diverse as the city itself and will also be planned and programmed from the local scene - with collectives, clubs and initiatives. In the coming years, the festival will be expanded to include new themes and more artists.
