Dragons and Vikings are a combination that has not exactly been characterized by friendship for eons of years. It seems they just can't stand each other. That's why they fight each other. The Vikings are prepared for this from an early age. However, anyone who proves not to be tough enough quickly becomes an outsider - including Hiccup (Mason Thames). As the son of the Viking chieftain Haudrauf (Gerard Butler), the pressure of expectation on him is immense. When Hiccup one day encounters one of the legendary Nightshade dragons, Toothless, Hiccup's world collapses in the very best sense of the word. Contrary to the numerous Viking tales, Toothless does not actually want to kill him. An unexpected friendship develops between the two. But how is Hiccup supposed to explain this to his father and the other members of the tribe? After all, they have believed for generations that the dragons are up to no good...
