The drama prize for politics and human rights is being awarded for the second time by the TRIGGER theater festival.

The five-member jury unanimously chose Wuehle's text "Rue d'Armenie" from 62 submissions.

From the jury's statement:

"Despite a variety of formal approaches, the first thing that stood out was a significant increase in social and ecological dystopias compared to 2022. The question of how we can go on as humanity now seems to be hitting the theater with force. And many of the texts submitted were worthy of serious consideration. But one of the submitted texts stood out above all others in that every jury member had it on their personal "shortlist" after reading it. (...) "Rue d'Armenie" is a reappraisal, a contemporary stocktaking and a warning all rolled into one.

A nightmare city is portrayed in powerful language. It is about the art of survival and the power of the strongest, dark feelings, compassion and solidarity. Highly topical, clever and without answers or finger-pointing, the text addresses discrimination, poverty, classism and questions about forms of resistance and solidarity. The characters' chance encounters and the overlapping of different experiences show, on the one hand, how oppression is differentiated and, at the same time, how brutal its equalizing effect is on everyone. This is reinforced by the formal approach, which shifts from isolation to togetherness to meta-level.

The fact that the text not only describes the dystopia, but also the question of how we can unite in these challenging times and make compassion and togetherness resonate, completely convinced the jury. It congratulates Armin Wühle and wishes "Rue d'Armenie" countless performances in many places."
