DRUNK AT YOUR WEDDING, named after an old Bill Callahan song, is the project of Berlin singer/songwriter Nina Töllner.
She likes prickly indie rock and traditional folk and has a keen sense of dark narratives and dry humor. As a result, DaYW's songs keep hitting surprising hooks, oscillating between fragile and loud and embedding catchy melodies in a shadow play of minor keys.
The second DAYW album "I Have to Go Home" (Bohemian Strawberry, 2021) earned kind words from Spiegel Online, Rolling Stone, VISIONS and Kaput Magazin, among others. The follow-up "Ghost Gear" (2023/24) pays little heed to classic song structures, frequently stepping on the distortion pedal and fishing in human shallows or the poetic peculiarities of the English language.
Kitty Solaris
Peace, freedom, synthesizers: dark wave pop between 80s sound and 60s attitude. Kitty Solaris, the "secret indie queen of Berlin", released her ninth album "James Bond" (Solaris Empire) in July, which was showered with praise from Rolling Stone, Kulturnews, Musikexpress, Westzeit, Laut.de, Bedroomdisco and others. "James Bond" was "Album of the Week" at Byte FM and Deutschlandfunk Kultur, among others, and had two small radio hits with the great dream pop title track and the single "Follow the Beatniks".
"Sean Connery or Roger Moore? Pierce Brosnan should not be forgotten among the best James Bond actors. And it would be nice to have such a smart hero at your side in these times. 'James Bond' is the name of Kitty Solaris' ninth album and it combines warm electro-pop and indie songwriter sentiments that also sometimes reach for the kraut-rock guitar." Laut.de
"The DIY queen becomes a secret agent on her new album - including a drug trip and a spectacular rescue operation." Kulturnews
