DTH-Film

In the organizer's words:

Film series by Dance Theatre Heidelberg in cooperation with Gloria

In cooperation with the Gloria arthouse cinema, we are showing a wide variety of films on the subject of dance in this series of events. From feature film productions to filmed stage plays and dance documentaries - we want to bring together the medium of film and dance and make the most diverse facets of dance accessible to our audience.

What does life sound like? In "Unseen Horses", Greek dancer and aspiring choreographer Ioanna Paraskevopoulou delves deep into the lives of DTH dancers. Their personalities, challenges and moments of happiness are brought to life through video projections and live soundscapes. Inspired by Foley Artists, the dancers create sounds live on stage to accompany their filmed scenes in real time - with the help of a microphoned stage construction and a wide variety of materials.

To mark this multi-sensory dance piece, we are presenting all the interviews that Ioanna Paraskevopoulou conducted with the DTH dancers in this DTH film - a unique opportunity to get to know the DTH even better. In addition, we are showing the eight-minute documentary short film "Track Stars: The Unseen Heroes of Movie Sound" from 1979, which was a central inspiration for Ioanna Paraskevopoulou and sparked her fascination with Foley, the art of making sound.
