Elisa Hoven: »Recht und Gerechtigkeit«

Elisa Hoven, professor in Leipzig and judge at the Constitutional Court of Saxony, is one of the best-known German criminal lawyers. This is not only due to her legal expertise, but also her communication skills. Hoven (e.g. Instagram account, ZEIT column Recht so) is very present as a public specialist mediator. Good. Criminal law gets a lot of people very excited. It's also very exciting. Nowhere is the realization that law and justice are not only not the same thing, but can sometimes be contradictory, more exciting, more painful, more poetic. In her novel Dunkle Momente, Hoven exposes her heroine, criminal defense lawyer Eva Herbergen (note the initials!), to the force of legal and moral dilemmas and ambiguities. Presenter Susanne Beck - as holder of the Chair of Criminal Law at Leibniz University and crime novelist - knows life as a writing lawyer quite well.
