In their debut album "Scented Rushes", Steinkogler and Butt create a highly attractive, independent sound universe by combining jazz, neoclassical, classical and contemporary playing techniques. A fairytale sound universe in the truest sense of the word, made up of a love of freedom, experimentation and humor."

In "Scented Rushes", the DUO OXYMORON playfully overcomes the boundaries of several pairs of opposites and sound languages by immersing themselves in fabulous fairytale worlds.

Three storytellers show the two musicians the way: Lewis Carroll, the author of the two Alice novels, to whom Steinkogler and Butt dedicate their own fairytale suite, and the composers Maurice Ravel and Bernard Andrès. In their aversion to the pigeonholing of their contemporaries, their knowledge of the magic of fluid boundaries and in their humor, the duo feels connected to these three human friends.

"Scented Rushes" is a tongue-in-cheek homage to Lewis Carroll, the author of the two Alice novels. To his always poetic impartiality. To the "fragrant nothingness" that cannot be held on to.
