For a long time, Ebertplatz was considered a problem area: poor quality of life, urban planning deficiencies and social challenges. Since 2018, various initiatives, cultural workers and local residents have been working with the city administration to develop new approaches for the square. Ebertplatz with its iconic fountain is now a popular meeting place, especially in summer, and the art and cultural program attracts a city-wide audience.
The tour offers insights into the "Ebertplatz interim use concept" and shows how cooperative urban development works in practice. What insights have been gained in this process so far? What challenges still need to be solved? And what does the long-term development of the square look like?
