SpaceDeer

SpaceDeer (Alexander) is the creator and owner of Arillas Soundgarden. He is an Ecstatic Dance DJ and curator of the "Ecstatic Dance Festival Corfu."

In the 80s/90s, he was a successful music club owner and vinyl DJ playing diverse genres. He was a resident DJ in Frankfurt (Dorian Gray), Stuttgart (ZAP), Pforzheim (Scandal, Café Cairo), as well as a guest DJ in Ibiza (Pacha, Amnesia), Zurich (Rohstofflager, Oxa, Street Parade), Berlin (Planet, UFO, Love Parade), and many more. In 1990, he opened one of the first DJ schools in Germany.

In 2019, he moved to Corfu and created the Soundgarden in Arillas. Since January 2023, he has been back behind the (now digital) DJ decks and has been hosting weekly Ecstatic Dance sessions at the Soundgarden.

One of his passions is throat and overtone singing, and as DJ SpaceDeer, part of his signature style is to sing live during the intro phase of his Ecstatic Dance sets.

SpaceDeer captivates audiences with his ecstatic dance sets, renowned for their exceptional precision in emotional progression. Each musical journey he creates guides listeners through a rich spectrum of emotional landscapes.

His sets often begin with a melancholic heaviness, gradually transitioning into a neutral phase where dancers ease into the rhythm. This evolves into an ecstatic peak, during which deeper, darker emotions are released. Ultimately, SpaceDeer leads his audience into moments of pure joy, culminating in a profound sense of connection and unconditional love - a cathartic journey that resonates deeply on both spiritual and physical levels.

Musically, SpaceDeer draws from an extensive repertoire of world music, including electronic dance music, Indian and South American influences, and elements of Nordic shamanic music. His love for folklore and cheerful traditional dance rhythms is enriched by unexpected touches of classical music and even ballet and cinematic compositions.

A signature aspect of his sets is the inclusion of unpredictable and sometimes extreme soundscapes. These tracks often transcend conventional song structures, yet they evoke a profound emotional resonance in dancers.

By blending traditional and modern sounds, DJ SpaceDeer crafts an experience that touches listeners on emotional, physical, and spiritual levels.
