A band whose work is characterized by a pronounced sense of change and continuity: with both feet firmly anchored in DIY.
The band creates songs from fuzz and analog frequencies that show a preference for the mechanistic sounds of the 70s.
Added to this is a love for the reinventions of the 1990s and 2000s.
Nuance by nuance, the apparent simplicity of just good pop music is continued here; at the same time, a world of obscure soundtracks is entered.
Drawing on the influences of John Cale, Stereolab and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, the live shows are constantly evolving layers of creative energy.
The thread between static intensity and agile restraint is taut from start to finish.
EGGY's latest album 'With Gusto', released via Flightless Records (King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Amyl and The Sniffers amongst others), was named Album of the Week by 3RRR and 4ZZZ and in Henry Rollins' Top 11 Albums of 2022 on KCRW.
After 'With Gusto', they released 'Open Field' in 2024.
Written and conceived as a three-part odyssey, these seven minutes and fifty-one seconds traverse the sounds of a band that retains conviction as their touchstone.
Echoing the Düsseldorf and Berlin school of the 1970s, these driving melodies and mechanistic rhythms sit alongside the climactic intensity of a group that emerged from the New York underground of the 2000s.
EGGY have shared the stage with artists such as A. Savage (Parquet Courts), Automatic, Kurt Vile, Shannon & The Clams, The Beths, Surprise Chef, Tropical Fuck Storm, Wednesday and Pachyman.
Their performances also include appearances at 'Splendour in the Grass' and 'Bigsound', as well as a first headline tour of Europe.
Hailing from Melbourne / Naarm, EGGY are Charlie Wolstenholme, Dom Moore, Lucy Packham, Sam Lyons and Zoe Monk.
