with author Svenja Viola Bungarten and the acting ensemble

The Salon für neue Dramatik is entering its second season: in November, the author Svenja Viola Bungarten, who often intersects feminist themes with scenarios of global warming in her plays, will be our guest. Her texts thrive on a sense of the absurd and the question of what possibilities for action arise for characters in a state of catastrophe. Bungarten will be reading from two of her plays with the acting ensemble: In The Second Sun, all the mothers suddenly disappear while the world observes a solar eclipse. Those left behind believe that they have left the world; after all, a medium had prophesied the end of the world. But after many years, it turns out that the women have retreated to a remote island and founded a new community there.

In the theatrical road movie Garland, a failed film director, his policeman brother, a teenager suspected of arson, a petrol station employee named Judy Garland and a hopelessly overworked radio presenter come together as the world seems to go up in flames. The world premiere at Schauspielhaus Graz was awarded a Nestroy Prize in 2022.
