Höhen und Tiefen - Das JPON spielt Eine Alpensinfonie

The Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Lower Saxony with Death and Transfiguration and Eine Alpensinfonie

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 6 p.m., the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Lower Saxony (JPON) will perform Eine Alpensinfonie and Tod und Verklärung in the Großer Sendesaal of the NDR in Hanover. This year's program once again features two great works with which the JPON hopes to delight audiences.

Richard Strauss was a master of symphonic poetry and created two outstanding orchestral works, Eine Alpensinfonie and Tod und Verklärung, which musically capture dramatic experiences of nature and life. Both works demonstrate Strauss' masterful orchestration and his ability to translate intense emotional experiences into music.

The JPON is a young orchestra with musicians from very different backgrounds. It thrives on its diversity, in which aspiring professionals and music-loving amateurs from Lower Saxony, the whole of Germany and beyond pursue the common goal of bringing great symphonic works to the stage. Founded in 1989, the orchestra has always been organized on a voluntary basis and thrives on the voluntary commitment of its members. Once a year, the JPON meets for its major summer project. In two and a half weeks, a challenging program is rehearsed and performed in four final concerts.
