Fairy tales and poetry by Katharina Diez and Elisabeth Grube

The writer Karl Immermann died in Düsseldorf on August 25, 1840. His circle of leading poets, painters and musicians also included the folk poets Katharina Diez (1809-1882) and Elisabeth Grube (1803-1871). The freedom-loving sisters had emigrated from the Siegerland region to Düsseldorf, became nationally famous and were highly honored by the people of Düsseldorf.

To mark the 185th anniversary of Karl Immermann's death, the musical reading recalls the romantic roots of the poet sisters. The focus is on Katharina Diez's fairy tale "The snail and her friends and their journey to the rose" and Elisabeth Grube's love poetry, whose richly pictorial world of nature is accompanied by music.
