Germany and Poland are inextricably linked historically. This connection is often reflected in their own family history. Many people are not even aware of their family connection to Eastern Europe.

The lecture introduces historical events and their influence on German-Polish family constellations. The focus is on research and search options for family research. In addition, archival and inheritance law aspects in Germany and Poland are addressed, which can be an obstacle to research.

The lecture is aimed at family researchers as well as estate curators and all interested parties. The speaker will give the lecture twice that evening, at 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm. After the lectures, you will have time to visit our library, browse the book table with publications on family research and ask questions to the speaker.

Night of Libraries 2025 under the motto "Knowledge. Share. Discover."

This year, the "Night of the Libraries" will take place nationwide for the first time. In North Rhine-Westphalia, it is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Libraries from Denmark, Belgium and South Tyrol are now taking part as well as libraries from Germany. From 2025, the event will take place every two years in all 16 federal states. This is the fourth time our library has taken part.
