Schörnig's Langfilm directorial debut works with precision and authenticity and vividly documents the hardship faced by people who embark on a life-threatening journey out of poverty and hardship. With his split-screen process, the director captures the complexity of rescue operations in the Mediterranean - in real time:
It takes over an hour to rescue the 104 people adrift on the water in a rubber dinghy. "It leaves a deep impression - both in terms of content and form," says Kino-Zeit. The film is an important contemporary document that clearly shows the legitimacy and necessity of such sea rescues as well as the danger that rescuers and asylum seekers put themselves in.
Afterwards, we offer the opportunity for a discussion with the 3rd officer of the rescue ship, as well as sea-eye Bonn and Seebrücke Bonn.
Free admission, registration in advance is not necessary. Donations will be collected for the two organizations.
