The permanent exhibition at the Augustinermuseum in Freiburg offers a fascinating insight into the art and culture of past eras. Prophets, mythical creatures and saints await visitors to the exhibition, which focuses in particular on the original stone figures and stained glass windows from Freiburg Cathedral. The collection is complemented by medieval wooden sculptures and panel paintings by important artists such as Matthias Grünewald, Lucas Cranach the Elder and Hans Baldung Grien. The Baroque works unfold their full splendor in the former choir room. The gallery on the top floor shows changing presentations of 19th century paintings.
The permanent exhibition makes the Augustinermuseum a place where the past and art come alive in a unique way.
