In the organizer's words:

On September 20, 2025, we will be transforming Leipzig Central Station into a fantastic experience for rail fans and anyone who wants to experience technology up close. From 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., it's all happening on platforms 16/17 and 24 - and all for free!

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

Nostalgic steam train rides
The popular "Leipzig city tours under full steam" depart three times a day at 10:00, 13:00 and 16:00. Just under two hours through Leipzig with historical flair - with a steam locomotive, of course!

Locomotive exhibition and hands-on professions
Various locomotives - from classic to modern - are on display and invite you to take a look inside the driver's cab. Railroad companies and associations present their vehicles, professions and opportunities in rail transportation.

"Open locomotive doors" on track 24
Exciting insights into historic electric locomotives (built 1932-42) - including expert insights directly from the experts of the IG Historische Elektrolokomotiven.

Children's program on track 24
A mobile garden railroad and a 5-inch miniature railroad will amaze young and old alike.

Station tours
Exclusive tours of Leipzig Central Station: historic dining car locomotives, I. + II. class waiting halls and the old passenger tunnel. Class waiting rooms and the old passenger tunnel are waiting to be explored.
