Free, outdoors and under palm trees: this summer, the DURCHLÜFTEN music festival will once again transform the Humboldt Forum's large Schlüterhof courtyard into a lively meeting place for sound, rhythm and culture.

Over four weekends, music from all over the world will radiate from the stage: from the raw energy of Mexican cumbia punk to the hypnotic groove of Kenyan dodo blues, from the electrifying syncopation of Congolese soukous to the powerful messages of Afrofuturist big bands.

Japanese folk with a Caribbean influence, soulful jazz, hip-hop and the joy and resilience of the Frafra gospel round off this celebration of sound - boundless, multi-perspective and irresistibly danceable!

Ekowmania & The Rhythmers (Berlin, Ghana)

Ekowmania & the Rhythmers is an Afro-Highlife band based in Berlin, led by Ekow Alabi Savage. He is a singer, composer, master percussionist and known for his deep understanding of African rhythms on the drums. Originally from Ghana, Savage has made his mark on the global music scene with his fusion of highlife, reggae, jazz and funk. As a drummer and companion, he has worked with legends such as Ziggy Marley, Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti and Ebo Taylor.

In Berlin, he is now the bandleader of Ekowmania & the Rhythmers and continues the tradition of combining West African rhythms with contemporary sounds. His latest recording will be released in summer 2025.
