Sea surf

in the Südstadt

Sculptor Helga Kaes and photographer Ralf Kardes are dedicating their joint exhibition at Cologne's Südstadt-Galerie Smend to the element of water (August 29 to 31, Mainzer Str. 31). The view of the Cologne photographer and the sculptor, who lives on the banks of the Rhine in Remagen and on the Atlantic island of Fuerteventura, could not be more different and at the same time more harmonious. Water is movement, water constantly changes its textures and colors, reflects light, foams and rears up. The photographs and the sculptures made of pigmented plaster show unrepeatable, unique moments of a constantly changing element. "Water is the driving force behind all life on earth" (Leonardo da Vinci).
