Emerging Change Dance Festival

Emerging Change Dance Festival - by and for QTBIPoC* dance artists - creates a radical space of transformation and celebration .

From September 21 to October 19, 2024, EmergingChange features performances, workshops, residencies, community conversations, and celebrations. Featured Berlin-based and international artists include mayfield brooks, femBlack Performance Collective, vAL, Elvan Tekin, Djibril Sall, ShahrZad, Zem*u Huber, Virginnia Krämer & Isabel Kwarteng, Makisig Akin & Anya Cloud/The Love Makers Company, Isabelle Dikumbi, and more.

Emerging Change rejects tokenism and counters structural racism within the field of dance. Inspired by adrienne maree brown's book Emergent Strategy, directors and curators Nara Virgens and Makisig Akin designed the festival to emulate the structural resilience of mycelium as a model of thriving through QTBIPoC interconnectivity and interdependence.

Partner institutions are Tanzfabrik Berlin, Radialsystem, Uferstudios, Casa Kuà, Emergent Spaces, and GLADT e.V. Funded by Hauptstadtkulturfonds.

Performances: Pay what you can: BIPoC, Trans, and Disabled (5 eur), Everyone Else (10-25 eur). showings: Free. Donations accepted and will be used for snacks, coffee, and tea. Workshops: Suggested donation: BIPoC, Trans, and Disabled (10 eur), Everyone Else (20-50 eur). No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Conversations: Free. Donations accepted and will be used for snacks, coffee, and tea.
