Emil Brandqvist is a composer and bandleader with a remarkable sense of great melody and simple beauty. His atmospheric and cinematic compositions are inspired by both folk music and classical music.

Together with renowned pianist Tuomas Antero Turunen and bassist Max Thornberg, Brandqvist forms a trio with flowing, dynamic piano jazz as a trademark. Since the release of their debut album Breathe Out, the Emil Brandqvist Trio has established itself as one of the most exciting jazz trios in Europe. The group's records have been highly acclaimed: Seascapes was nominated for an Echo in Germany. Falling Crystals was listed at number 5 in the German jazz charts.

The album Within a Dream, released in 2018, received rave reviews and reached number 3 in the German jazz charts. And most recently, the Northerners wowed with Layers of Life - whose compositions have now been streamed over 50 million times! Short and sweet: The Emil Brandqvist Trio has made a name for itself worldwide as a brilliant live act in recent years.
