With her funky double bass style, Detroit-born bassist, composer and bandleader Endea Owens is one of the most promising young talents on the jazz scene. Her virtuoso bass playing is characterized by depth and expressiveness and combines classical jazz influences with modern elements. Beyond her technical skills, she impressively combines emotional resonance with rhythmic complexity. Her debut album "Feel Good Music" (2023), which she recorded with her band "The Cookout", is a universe of soulful melodies and rhythmic dynamics. It is audibly rooted in the jazz of the swinging sixties and seventies, but goes far beyond that. Listen to her Tiny Desk performance on NPR: an uplifting blend of jazz, gospel and neo-soul energy that couldn't be more beautiful.

Endea Owens can already look back on an impressive career. As a graduate of the renowned Juilliard School and under the guidance of greats such as Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker and Ron Carter, she has carefully played her way into the limelight. She has worked with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Jennifer Holliday, Diana Ross and Solange. She also plays in various ensembles such as the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and the band "Stay Human", the house band of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" under the direction of Jon Batiste. And although she's only at the beginning of her great career, she already has an Emmy, a Grammy and a George Foster Peabody Award on her mantelpiece.
