Ensemble New Babylon - In Persona: Beltane Ruiz Molina

Double bass + electronics

From February to June 2025, individual musicians from the ensemble New Babylon will present their skills in intimate solo lounge concerts as part of the one-year residency at the Center for Art. The second concert will feature Spanish double bassist Beltane Ruiz Molina.

After studying in London, Berlin and Basel, she worked with the most renowned orchestras and conductors in England, Germany and the Netherlands. Artistically, she dedicates herself to the entire spectrum of bass instruments, from G-violone and D-violone to Viennese bass and four- and five-string double basses on gut and steel strings. In addition to the ensemble New Babylon, she is also a member of Anima Eterna Brugge and Apollo Ensemble as well as the Zafraan Ensemble in Berlin.

Music by Yannis Kyriakides (*1969, Cyprus), Kaija Saariaho (1952-2023, Finland), Corie Rose Soumah (Kannada) and Oscar Bianchi (*1975, Italy/Switzerland).
