The biography of Hamburg choir conducting professor Cornelius Trantow shows what surprising twists and turns the development of young people can take: first he studied physics, then church music. Perhaps mastering scientific methodology helps in the pursuit of musical goals? The two first prizes that Trantow won with his Ensemble vocal and the University Chamber Choir at the German Choir Competition suggest so! At the center of this lesson is Martin's demanding mass. Frank Martin described his work as "a matter between God and me" and did not want to publish it for decades. Fortunately, it finally was!
