Nordsee und Natur - von Möwen, Muscheln und dem weiten Meer

"North Sea and nature - of seagulls, shells and the wide open sea": this is the title of a very special experience for all nature lovers at the cultural center on Saturday, 29 June 2025: The interactive lecture is aimed at adults, young people and children aged 6 and over and takes participants on an exciting journey into the unique landscape of the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Together with the experienced nature and landscape guide Amber Holmes, participants discover the fascinating coastal world along the Dutch, German and Danish North Sea coasts between 11:00 - 12:30. In their luggage: shells, snails, starfish, amber and many other treasures from the mudflats and the beach that arouse curiosity and invite you to marvel.

Whether as a prelude to your next vacation or as an inspiring break from everyday life - this active lecture brings a real North Sea feeling to the heart of the city. Participants learn exciting facts about the wildlife of the North Sea, life with the tides and the special features of the coastal landscapes. Together, they become little shellfish and bird experts, learn the "coastal etiquette" and solve tricky nature puzzles.

At the end, everyone receives a practical shell identification card and a checklist for the next visit to the beach - so that the next mudflat hike is guaranteed to be a nature adventure. The participation fee is €9 (adults), children & young people (6-17 years) €6.50. Please note: Children up to the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
