Intervention with objects and their stories
A hat, a wooden box, a pill tube, a beer mug. What memories do these things hold, what stories can they tell? What do we want to learn from them? For one year, selected objects will complement the exhibition Munich and National Socialism and tell new stories. Large and small, everyday and unusual objects create sensory access points and enable a different view of the past.
Personal audio commentaries accompany the individual objects, classify them and make larger contexts tangible. The contributions were written and recorded by contemporary witnesses, activists, artists, scientists and others. With contributions from Laura Altmann, Frank Bajohr, Sandra Chatterjee, Edmund de Waal, Hamado Dipama, Ayala Drori, Miriam Gebhardt, Lena Gorelik, Ernst Grube, Lydia Grün, Almut Jöde, Constanze Köpl, Olga Mannheimer, Heike Catherina Mertens, München OEZ erinnern!, Sikko Neupert, Thomas Schuhbauer, Theresa Seraphin, Katrina Recker, Monika Sommer, Eric Otieno Sumba and Paul Maria Wittmann.
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the NS Documentation Center, Erinnerung ist... invites you to reflect together on how difficult and painful experiences can be presented, conveyed and interpreted.
