Photographer Ernest Cole made history with his photo book "House of Bondage" and helped to change conditions in his native South Africa. He was the first photographer to dare to document the inhumane practices of the South African apartheid regime with his pictures and to show the suffering of the black population. Raoul Peck's documentary film about Ernest Cole's life and work relies entirely on the power that still emanates from Cole's images 35 years after his death.
