ERNESTY INTERNATIONAL - full Band

"This much is proven: The very moment you say someone is an excellent singer-songwriter, two thirds of the listening public are already thinking about their next dentist appointment. In the case of Ernst Tiefenthaler alias Ernesty International, however, this is their great loss. Because Ernst Tiefenthaler, who mostly sings to himself in methodical coherence via multi-track technique, is basically not a narcissist, but a notorious underachiever - possibly a survival strategy of his anonymous cycling Favoritner home studio existence, which remains aware of the limitations of that Bobo-Vienna that exists beyond the Wiedner Gürtel, where one can soon be king. Tiefenthaler at least seems to allude to this in a self-deprecating way when he wears a glittering crown on the cover of his latest album "Ernesty IV" or calls himself the "Chairman" and his label EMG (Ernesty Music Group). Ernesty is international because he sings in English. However, the allegories interspersed in his more or less camouflaged love songs as triggers for collective feelings of identification do have a local reference: his anti-nuclear anthem "The Decline of Television", for example, which was created for the deserted sidewalks of Vienna's Drinnenhockerstadt and turns a complaint about the television program into a call to turn off and come together, or the "Smell of Dogshit in Early December", which is well known to all Viennese. The fact that Tiefenthaler tries his hand at programming drum and bass patterns in the song of the same name, without claiming an electronic rebirth for himself like so many others, can be counted as part of the aforementioned understatement, as can the one-shot video shot on Hauptallee for the undersold non-hit "Not Alaska". The question remains as to how Ernesty International will deal with the fact that the rest of the world is increasingly taking him more seriously than he takes himself."
