To mark the opening of the International Weeks against Racism 2025, the Landesdemokratiezentrum Schleswig-Holstein and the State Commissioner for Refugee, Asylum and Immigration Issues invite you to an evening with cultural and political scientist Dr. Kien Nghi Ha (University of Tübingen). The keynote speech will examine and critically reflect on issues relating to structural racism and the various forms of racism.
In order to protect human dignity, the effects and various forms of racism must be taken into account in order to actively counteract them. The lecture will focus in particular on forms of anti-Asian and anti-Muslim racism. The event will be moderated by Alexandra Antwi-Boasiako and artistically accompanied by the musician Another Nguyen.
Those who are fasting will have the opportunity to break their fast during the event.

Dr. Kien Nghi Ha holds a doctorate in cultural and political science and is head of the Postcolonial Asian German Studies department at the Asia-Orient Institute at the University of Tübingen. He was awarded the Augsburg Science Prize for Intercultural Studies. As a curator, he has realized various projects on Asian diaspora at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, the Hebbel am Ufer-Theater and the Sinema Transtopia, among others. He has published more than ten books on postcolonial criticism, racism, migration and Asian diaspora. Most recently, the anthologies "Asian Germans Extended. Vietnamesische Diaspora and Beyond" (Association A 2012/2021) and "Asiatische Präsenzen in der Kolonialmetropole Berlin" (Association A, 2024). The volume "Anti-Asian Racism in Transatlantic Perspectives: History, Theory, Cultural Representations and Social Movements" (transcript) is planned for 2025.
