We cordially invite you to our upcoming opening of two exhibitions at Haus Kunst Mitte.

FOUNDATIONS - Group exhibition with 15 international artists
Curated by Sakhile Matlhare and Daniel Hagemeier in collaboration with Haus Kunst Mitte, the exhibition brings together 15 positions that deal with fundamental and vital issues: Their works deal with social concepts such as the development of human rights, the significance of individual and collective history and the effects of colonial history. A wide variety of materials - from wood and steel to textiles and bioplastics - are transformed and placed in new contexts. References to West African art, Yoruba philosophies and Adinkra symbols meet current issues of sustainability, femininity and social participation.

TWO VIEWS - THREE DIMENSIONS: Artist couple Elke Judith Wagner and Frank Dornseif
A special premiere: Elke Judith Wagner and Frank Dornseif present their works together for the first time in Berlin. Together as a couple for over 50 years, they have remained artistically independent - out of conviction that art should be free of external attributions.

In the 1970s, they discovered their materials: reinforcing iron and concrete. While Dornseif's filigree steel sculptures capture human bodies and faces in a permeable formal language, Wagner creates compact, archetypal concrete forms with a timeless presence.

Their works stand alone, but complement each other in their contrasting nature - a reflection on stability, change and artistic freedom.

We look forward to the presence of many artists and a greeting from André Schmitz, member of the board of trustees of the "Asyl der Kunst Stiftung" and former Secretary of State for Culture of the State of Berlin. You can also look forward to an introduction by Dr. Anna Havemann and the curators Sakhile Matlhare and Daniel Hagemeier.
