Eröffnung FRANZ GERTSCH – BLOW-UP. EINE RETROSPEKTIVE.

In the organizer's words:

The Swiss artist Franz Gertsch (1930-2022) is considered a pioneer of photorealism and a master of modern woodcuts. From December 13, 2024 to May 4, 2025, the retrospective exhibition at the Deichtorhallen Hamburg will show an overview of the artist's work from more than 60 years of artistic creation: oversized paintings up to 6 meters in size from the 1970s, iconic portraits of women from the 1980s, epic landscapes and nature photographs from the last two decades as well as monumental woodcuts. Franz Gertsch's paintings and woodcuts continue to impress today with their monumental scale and photographic precision.
