Eröffnung: Media art is here

In the organizer's words:

As part of the UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts Karlsruhe, we are opening the media art exhibition "Media art is here" in partnership with the Cultural Office and the participating artists. The works of local and international artists can be experienced from August 14 to September 14 at the ZKM and free of charge in the city.

In 2025, the exhibition will also bring art to where life takes place: On streets, squares and in gardens, visitors will encounter pioneering media artworks that rethink public space and make it tangible. On display are works that explore the boundaries between physical and virtual space and address the influence of digital media on society, identity and sustainability. Through their placement in the middle of urban space, the artistic works open up new, surprising perspectives and promote the exchange between art, the city and society.

The exhibition not only creates aesthetic experiences, but also new forms of participation: Many works invite active participation and make media art a direct experience for a wide audience. The presentation takes place parallel to the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival and offers the opportunity to rediscover Karlsruhe through media and light art.

"Media art is here" is realized by the Cultural Office of the City of Karlsruhe in close cooperation with the ZKM | Center for Art and Media. Part of the event series Art | Summer | Technology of the KIT.
