A new chapter begins for the Berlin art scene! With SKALAR, the acclaimed light and sound installation by Christopher Bauder and Kangding Ray, DARK MATTER opens the new exhibition hall TRANSFORMATOR.
After seven years of international touring, SKALAR returns to Berlin for a limited time - this time in a spectacular new space on the DARK MATTER site. With over 1,000 m² of space and a ceiling height of ten meters, the former TRANSFORMATOR industrial hall provides the perfect backdrop for the monumental work of art.
SKALAR combines floating mirrors, perfectly synchronized light and a multidimensional sound system. The result is an audiovisual narrative of luminous spatial drawings and three-dimensional sounds that explores the complex influence of light and sound on human perception.
The work reflects Bauder's deep fascination with light and its effects. Light and darkness as endless cycles of day and night determine our perception of time and influence our emotions. In SKALAR, light is used as an almost tangible material to create architectural sculptures that, despite their abstraction, allow for very personal associations.
Be there when TRANSFORMATOR celebrates its premiere with SKALAR on March 28, 2025!
