At the invitation of the Young Saylors Club, the Kunsthalle Schlieren is making a guest appearance at the xpon-art gallery in Hamburg.
The exhibition "Where is the sunset here anyway" deals with the concept of the subconscious. Repressed memories, fears and phobias are stored in the "cellar" of our souls and are usually forgotten. On display are artists who venture on a journey into the unconscious in the cellar vaults of the old Münzburg in order to unearth our collective subconscious:

The Young Saylors Club is a participatory painting project founded by the Hamburg artist H.C. Saylors. In it, the canvases are "primed" with the reality of social gatherings such as dinners, jam sessions, exhibition openings or spontaneous meetings, painted over and over again with color and stretched out into format-breaking pictures. The result is seemingly abstract expressionist paintings, which in their own way appear much more real than a photograph.

The Kunsthalle Schlieren is an exhibition platform of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Zürcher Bildhauer:innen. The Kunsthalle is curated by Ingrid Scherr and Peter Lynen, who pursue their work as experimental art history. Thematic group exhibitions of established and yet-to-be-discovered positions by Swiss and international artists are shown. The aim is to open up a previously unseen field of associations through unusual juxtapositions, which outline the individual thematic focuses in an undogmatic way. Since 2018, the Kunsthalle has also made guest appearances at other art institutions.

Free admission, because everyone should have access to culture. However, you are welcome to make a donation if you would otherwise honor it. Drinks are available for a donation. We don't offer anything that we wouldn't drink ourselves. We conceive these exhibitions and run this space because we think it is important that there are constant and challenging positions between state museums and commercial galleries on the one hand and changing platforms for emerging art on the other - on the one hand to better promote artists who are not yet established, and on the other to create a more vibrant culture for communication between art and the public.
