The twentieth Tamburi Mundi Festival opens!

Murat Coşkun and Beatriz Picas are united by their great passion for the music that emerges between worlds and styles. What began two years ago at Tamburi Mundi as a first musical encounter has developed steadily and has now matured into a gripping duo program. Picas, whose voice is immediately moving with its individual timbre, goes her own way in the combination of cello and vocals. Coşkun has blind mastery of his instruments, so that he can seemingly intuitively enter into the music together.

The rarely heard combination of world percussion, cello and voice becomes a surprising sound experience: singing with the cello, playing with the voice, making the percussion cry and laugh.

You can sense that their light-footed, fresh duo program is the result of an intensive exchange at the latest when rhythmic precision effortlessly and virtuosically meets imaginatively realized phrases and intuitively absorbed impulses. Their Portuguese and Turkish roots can be sensed as the sounding board of their joint compositions - and so you can feel the melancholy from the sea or the exuberance from the mountains, spiced with the pain of the soul.
