The day after Donald Trump's re-election, Patti Smith writes:

"Don't feel backed into a corner. Move through this world as best you can."

She does not allow herself any frustration, but writes a text of hope that ends with the call: "back to work!"

In a performance with photography, text and installation, we explore the question: Where does this hope come from? We invite you to trace memories, forgetting and the obligation to the past.

Over the course of a month, a photo wall will be created, which will grow by one picture and a short text every day. Each photo is a testimony to the search for traces, a moment of reflection - a small piece of memory that stands against forgetting.

"So that they are no longer gone when they are gone, because they are no longer there."

The installation unfolds as a place of dialog between past and future, between ambivalence and hope. Readings, performances and a visual journey into the depths of memory invite us to question the duties imposed on us - "...the opposite of forgetting is not remembering, but the obligation to comply with the duties imposed on us by the past."

The installation brings to life places of memory such as the coffee machine, bistro table and chair. They are places where we linger, reflect and yet move on again and again - in search of what shapes us, what we leave behind and what remains.
