Wesel is creative, innovative and diverse. In the meantime, it has developed into a hotspot for rock and pop music on the Lower Rhine.
The idea of organizing a music festival for young people and music lovers in Wesel was born in 2007, when four young music fans from Wesel set to work to give Wesel its own music festival.
Heubergpark was chosen as the ideal location and was the venue that attracted over 7,000 visitors of all ages to Wesel's city center for the first EselRock in 2008.
Visitors from all over Germany and neighboring countries come to the city on the Lower Rhine every year.
Without commercial interest, the aim is to create something for Wesel and establish Heubergpark as an event venue.
Artists and bands from the region known throughout Germany and beyond share the main stage and lake stage.
"Do-it-yourself", voluntary and non-commercial, but with a good dose of professionalism, EselRock is held annually.
In March 2010, the EselRock e. V. was founded from the EselRock music initiative to plan and organize the event.
Musicians and music lovers plan and organize the annual festival and smaller events on a voluntary basis and take part in the life of the town's clubs.
