Just like in The Town Musicians of Bremen, the donkey, dog, cat and chicken form a band because: "He who sings is not dead." In Martin Heckmann's musical comedy, it is the four of them who quit or flee their oppressors. They dare to rebel and, with their songs and their joy of discussion, provide a fabulous example of how confidence can be maintained in the face of global crises. On their way, they finally come across the landowners they escaped from - are they the robbers in this story?
Martin Heckmann's award-winning play (finalist for the Mülheim Drama Prize 2023) is a rousing poetic-political parable about the problems of our time. How do you find a better life? And where is this utopian "everywhere"? Friederike Heller, who already staged the world premiere at the Staatstheater Kassel, is now continuing her search with students from the 3rd year of the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. A live band, as the four want to become, is also involved.
