Everything but the Kitchen Sink

Galerie Thomas Schulte is pleased to present a group exhibition that brings together artists from the gallery's program since its founding in the early 1990s with newer positions in the recently opened gallery in the Mercator-Höfe on Potsdamer Straße. Everything but the Kitchen Sink takes a broader view. This is because the approach of the exhibition describes both an extensive and an open nature for further designs. Works by nine artists will be shown, which encompass a variety of media and materials and whose creations range from the late 1980s to the present day. They are united by a certain penchant for embellishment, even if they all remain rooted in the everyday. Together, they invite reflection on the relationship between an object and its meaning - an interplay between what appears to be self-evident and what it is intended to conceal.
