Led by the charismatic and histrionic presence of Masha Mysmane and her powerful, unique soprano voice, EXILIA are currently on tour in Europe with their new album "Heroes And Dust". The band from the vibrant metropolis of Milan has embodied the authentic essence of hardcore in the alternative metal genre for two decades, as rock and metal fans have been able to see for themselves on their numerous international tours with rock stars such as Rammstein, Oomph, In Extremo, Paradise Lost and their US shows supporting Drowning Pool and Buckcherry. From the very beginning, EXILIA's music pushed the boundaries by interweaving metal riffs, fast beats, spoken words and poetic depth with melodies that became unforgettable anthems. The four musicians have carefully crafted their unmistakable sound and are known worldwide for their electrifying stage presence and explosive live performances. Shortly before the pandemic, they released the single "I Am God" including a music video and paved the way for the release of their album, which was once again created in collaboration with producer Jörg Umbreit at Principal Studios (Donots, Broilers, In Extremo, among others). At the end of the pandemic, EXILIA also made a triumphant return to the stage, playing at major festivals such as Lake Rock, Rock um zu helfen and Sinner Rock and embarking on an extensive headlining tour of Europe.
In 2000, EXILIA quickly caught the attention of MTV with their debut album "Rightside Up" and were awarded the Best European Newcomer Award in 2003, proof of the album's great success. EXILIA's experiences on stage with bands such as HIM, Therapy? and The Rollins Band inspired the sound and led to the powerful "Underdog" EP, which was released via GUN/Supersonic. This received rave reviews and paved the way for high profile European tours with the likes of In Extremo and Paradise Lost. The sonic attack of the second album "Unleashed", which reached number 38 in the German charts, once again proved the extraordinary class of the high-flyers. Legendary hits such as "Stop Playing God", "Coincidence" or "Can't Break Me Down" show a mixture of chainsaw riffs and whiskey-soaked vocals that captivated and still resonates. Their 2006 album "Nobody Excluded" is part of the soundtrack to the popular US TV series 'Grey's Anatomy'. The hit "Kill Me" was also produced in collaboration with Amnesty International and included a music video highlighting the human rights issues surrounding Guantánamo. The third album "My Own Army" was produced in 2008 by Dave Chavarri (Soulfly, Ill Niño, Pro-Pain, among others) and revealed a mature and complex sound, while retaining the vitality of the riffs typical of EXILIA. The fascinating fifth album "Decode" was released in 2012 and led to extensive US tours, including a performance at the renowned SXSW festival. 2015's "Purity" cemented EXILIA's position at the heart of the European metal scene and was celebrated on tour with Mustasch. "Feel The Fire", the opener and first single from the new album "Heroes And Dust", is about the moments when we feel alone and are looking for a reason to keep our spirit on fire and already generated remarkable fan interest during the recording process. With the other singles "Not The End Of The World", a call to stand up and have self-confidence even in difficult times, the impressive interpretation of The Weeknd's hit "Blinding Lights", as well as "Hypnotized", which revolves around a psychological experience in toxic love relationships, and "Supernova", the Italians aroused anticipation for the new album. It was finally unleashed on the world on April 21, 2023, accompanied by the compelling single "In The Afterglow" and its music video. Inspired by Metallica's "Sad But True", this track is about the challenges of life and the need to accept painful truths.
With the new songs on their album "Heroes And Dust", Masha Mysmane and her bandmates show that, despite all the changes, they are still a force to be reckoned with! EXILIA have always blown up the stereotypes of female fronted rock and continue on this path impressively!
