Exit Fast Fashion! Aktionstag für Schüler*innen

Fast fashion fuels climate change, pollutes the environment, exploits and endangers human lives. Ever since the collapse of the Rana Plaza textile factory in Bangladesh in 2013, the abuses of the textile industry have been well known, but little has changed. One thing is clear: we urgently need a way out of this system!

"Exit Fast Fashion" offers young people the opportunity to engage with the conditions of the fast fashion industry - interactively, experientially and critically. Participants gain an insight into the production processes of global supply chains, are encouraged to rethink their own clothing consumption and gain motivation to get involved in change themselves.

In addition to an interactive quiz and an expert talk by FEMNET speaker Isabel Spielmeyer, the young people can also look forward to a day in the textile factory: in a simulation, they slip into the role of textile workers and experience what it means to work and live under time pressure, control and exploitative conditions. A fair fashion show by pupils for pupils shows that there is another way.

At the market of possibilities for action, participants will also learn about alternatives and strategies for resistance and change and find inspiration to counter the fast fashion system. A clothes swap party is planned from 13:30 to 15:30, organized by the young people themselves.

The "Exit Fast Fashion" educational event is a satellite event of Fashion Revolution Week Heidelberg, the main event of which took place at Karlstorbahnhof in April 2025. "Exit Fast Fashion" is organized by the Global Classroom of the One World Centre Heidelberg.

School classes (from grade 8) and youth groups (from 13 years) with an accompanying person can register at bildung@eine-welt-zentrum.de. The registration deadline is 15.06.2025.
