Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) is nicknamed "the best who never made it". In the nineties, he was considered the most promising talent in FORMULA 1 - until an accident on the racetrack almost ended his career. 30 years later, he earns his living as an occasional racing driver. One day, he is approached by Sonny's former team colleague Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), who is now the owner of a FORMULA 1 team that is on the brink of collapse. Ruben persuades Sonny to return to FORMULA 1 in order to save the team and make one last attempt to prove himself as the best driver in the world. Meanwhile, his teammate, up-and-coming talent Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), is determined to set his own pace on the race track. In the roar of the engines, Sonny's past catches up with him. He soon realizes that in FORMULA 1, his own teammate can be his fiercest competitor - and that the road to redemption cannot be traveled alone.

In "F1" from Apple Original Films, Brad Pitt slips into the role of a former racing driver who returns to Formula 1®. Damson Idris takes on the role of his teammate at the fictional racing team APXGP. The film is shot on real Grand Prix weekends and the team competes against the real-life superstars of Formula 1®.
