Fabian Müller, piano
Fabian Müller: Bagatelles
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonatas No. 16, No. 14 "Moonlight Sonata", No. 6 and No. 31
Fabian Müller's "Ultra" project continues: he plays all 32 of Beethoven's piano sonatas, spread over two festivals. The second half begins at the Bonn Opera, with the famous "Moonlight Sonata" taking center stage. For the Bonn pianist, it resembles "a romantic poem: ambiguous, even contradictory - it is in Beethoven's spirit to let things blur". It is framed by the Sonata No. 16, a witty understatement, and the Sixth Sonata, with which the young Beethoven cemented his reputation as a genius. The penultimate Sonata in A flat major, which points far ahead into the Romantic period, forms the finale. Fabian Müller prefaces each Beethoven piece with his own musical preface.
