Even as a child, Dresden painter Katja Tomzig knew that there is more to us than we can generally see. "When Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came out 20 years ago, I naturally spent the whole weekend reading it," she recalls. "And when I came across a sheet of paper in my room covered in color stains, I discovered that there were all kinds of creatures in it. I quickly grabbed my crayons and stopped them from disappearing again, because I didn't know how long this window would stay open."
Her worries were unfounded, as the portal has remained open ever since and she can hardly look at a crumbling wall, marble slab or stain of any kind for any length of time without its inhabitants appearing. And no, no drug use is necessary for this

Katja Tomzig has been painting mainly in this style since 2019 - preferably with egg tempera, watercolor pencils and paint, coffee or tea on Finnish cardboard and various papers. The painter calls her constantly growing series of fantastic-looking pictures with great narrative potential her FACETTES OF CREATION, which - charged with love - are primarily intended to bring joy into the world. From September 7 to October 6, 2025, the FULL MOON GALLERY - the art space of the Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V. at Hechtstraße 17 - will be showing the latest works from this series seven days a week, 24 hours a day in the large display windows.

Full moon vernissage: Katja Tomzig "FACETTEN DER SCHÖPFUNG - Neu erschienen" on September 7, 8 pm. The artist will be on hand and will be accompanied by Dr. Hustler, who will frame her works with local woods as well as the appropriate sounds. Drinks will be offered by the house bar and Free admission.

Katja Tomzig studied in Dresden and Cologne, where she lived for 11 years before coming home in 2021. The freelance artist has shown works from her series FACETTEN DER SCHÖPFUNG in various group and solo exhibitions, at art fairs and in documentaries in Europe and the USA. The young designer Haz Sam had motifs printed and embroidered by her on fabric to create a breathtaking gown that caused a sensation at Berlin Fashion Week 2023. In another project, she is dreaming up new plants that help solve social problems. www.katja-tomzig.de
