Fachtag "Antisemitismus und Schule: Wie gehen wir mit Israelfeindschaft in pädagogischen Kontexten um?"

In the organizer's words:

As a result of the Hamas massacre on 7 October 2023, the Israeli army's war against the terrorist organization and a dramatic rise in anti-Semitism in Germany and North Rhine-Westphalia, there is once again a great need for educational institutions to address the topics of the Middle East conflict and anti-Semitism professionally. This is made more difficult by the fact that both topics often create great uncertainty and excessive demands.

So how can schools talk about the Middle East conflict? How can pupils be sensitized to anti-Semitism? The two newly published books "Bildungsarbeit gegen Antisemitismus" and "Israelbezogener Antisemitismus, der Nahostkonflikt und Bildung" will serve as the basis for these questions at the planned symposium, offering both brief approaches and pedagogical handouts for educational professionals.

Against this background, the symposium will focus on research findings as well as insights and problems from educational practice. The most recent anti-Semitic dynamics in school contexts will be classified and specific innovative pedagogical concepts will be presented that show ways to enable learners to better understand the conflict and guide them towards critical thinking.
