Debunking and countering climate disinformation

Workshops for children, young people and adults

From the age of 14

Disinformation goes viral every day - especially on topics such as climate change and sustainability. What is misinformation and disinformation and where do we encounter it most often? And above all: how can I react to disinformation, correct it and refute it? The interactive workshop analyzes discourse dynamics and uses specific examples to raise awareness of certain "tipping points" in debates that make it easier for misinformation to spread. We discuss characteristics of such "tipping points" as well as typical strategies and methods of disinformation and strengthen the ability to skillfully counter them.

Dr. Clara Christner is a political and communication scientist and works in sustainability communication at KIT's Sustainability Office.

Lisa Gaffney is a communication scientist and researches media effects and moralization in science communication at the FORUM and the Department of Science Communication at KIT.
