Sir Alan Ayckbourn, knighted by the Queen in 1997, offers no respite in this abysmal cat-and-mouse game about family secrets
about family secrets, old ghosts and lots of money. His fast-paced dialog is captivating from the very beginning, and his unerring instinct for timing ensures constant surprises and undermines any premature conclusions the audience may draw until the perfectly calculated finale. The story seems simple: Annabel returns home after the death of her father and learns that she is the main heiress, despite having fled her tyrannical father years ago. The nurse Alice claims that Miriam murdered her father and demands hush money. Annabel and Miriam refuse to pay and join forces against the blackmailer.
"Creepy and uproariously funny: three women inspire. Directed by Gerit Kling ("Notruf Hafenkante", "Alarm Kobra 11", "Das Traumschiff"), the women's trio put on such a turbulent, dense play, interspersed with situation comedy and creepy effects, that there were several bursts of applause and great laughter from the audience."
